What is Dental Insurance?
Dental insurance: Insuring your teeth from damages or accidents
and providing a preventive checkup is called as dental insurance.
If you get your teeth insured then you can avail check ups
regularly. Dental accidents are very uncommon and if there
are some problems then check ups could help in treating them
at the right time. Taking daily care like brushing 2 times
a day and flossing regularly would help in keeping the teeth
and gums hygienic.
The main aim of dental insurance is to make sure that the
person gets regular dental care and if there are some problems
then it can be treated on time. Dental hygiene is very important
as it can eliminate painful root canals and other problems
and deal with it in a very early stage. In a dental insurance
plan there are three parties connected. The patient for whom
the dental policy is taken, the doctor who will check the
patient for dental hygiene and the insurance company with
whom the coverage has been taken for a sum of premium. In
a dental insurance plan the dentist plays the main role. You
can choose the dentist whom you feel comfortable. There are
two options while taking a dental insurance:
Open panel: You have the right to choose a dentist of your
own liking. The dentist can refuse to treat the patient. Closed
panel: Under this option you can choose only the dentist who
is under the contract with the insurance company. You can
only choose the dentist who has a contract with the insurance
company. There are 3 types of dental insurance plans, indemnity
plans, capitation plans and direct reimbursement plans.
